The factory steering rack and pinion on the Rhino is extremely weak as most of you serious off-roaders have probably found out.

DONT LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU!

F1 ENGINEERING has spent many hours designing a new rack housing system that is pretty much bullet proof, yet is a simple bolt in upgrade.

Our rack housing uses graphite impregnated bronze bushings to support the rack gear,where the factory unit just floats around, and, as well as using aircraft strength billet aluminum construction we added webs where most of the stress takes place.

This rack & pinion assembly uses the stock track rods or the (recommended) BilletKing Off-Road billet track rod/clevis kit, available in stock length and for 4" or 6" over long travel suspension.

The track rods are made from high strength 2024 aerospace aluminum. The kit comes with all grade 8 hardware, chrome molly high misalignment rod ends, chrome molly clevises and 17-4 stainless bump steer spacers. Can be used with the factory rack and uses the stock dust boots with a simple modification.

SUSPENSION SHEAR PLATES

The Yamaha Rhino is a great little side by side, and a super fun vehicle for family off-road sports. However, the basic frame as manufactured is marginal, strengthwise for the purpose that the vehicle was designed for.

When you start adding upwards of 12" extra track and wheelbase, longer suspension travel, heavier rate springs etc. along with all of the other bolt on modifications available, then you had better start looking at bracing the chassis to support these added loads.

BRAKE & GAS PEDALS

The stock brake and gas pedals are easily strong enough for most applications, but of course they are kind of ugly, and when you are investing that much money into a custom Rhino you want everything to look good.

There are no better looking, or stronger, brake pedal sets out there than our race engineered billet ones. With our many years of designing pro race components we know where all of the weak points are, on the stock units they run steel to steel in the pivot bearing area and then coat it with grease, this does nothing but attract sand and dirt, and after some serious off-roading you have a sloppy pedal. Our billet pedals are designed to resist any flex under hard loads, are lighter and stronger than stock and we install a impregnated bronze bushing that needs no lube and does not attract dust.

They come in highly polished clear finish, polished and anodized RED or BLUE, and for the racer, in black anodize.

DIFFERENTIAL SUPPORTS

Two more questionable areas on the Yamaha Rhino are the front and rear differentials. The gear sets are adequate but the housing tends to move around when loads are fed into them, (landing from jumps, berms etc.) The F1 ENGINEERING team designed these support mounts to tie into the Stress Plates as well as the frame to keep the differentials from moving, this makes a big difference to the life of the gears. The Rear Support can be used without the Rear Stress Plate but we don't recommend it. The Front Support bolts directly to the Front Stress Plate.

FRONT SHOCK TOWER

The front shock tower feeds the shock loads across the chassis, preventing the top shock mount from tearing and twisting. The removable shock mount plates allow many configurations of shock geometry, with available plates for longer shocks, stock shocks, etc.

BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER GUARD

The brake master cylinder sits out in the open and is extremely vulnerable to rocks thrown up from the front wheels under full lock or when following (chasing) other vehicles. This custom brake guard prevents a catastrophic loss of brakes.
